Laboratorium Medisan is aware of its social responsibility as an employer and as a firm that can make a contribution on the basis of its knowledge and quality to people’s health and well-being. In this connection, Laboratorium Medisan has developed products in conjunction with the University of Wageningen and made them available for a double-blind clinical study in Tanzania.
This clinical study is part of a programme to reduce child mortality due to malaria and was focussed on determining which vitamins and minerals affect the immune system and thus affect the development of resistance to malaria, in relation to insufficiency in the local diet.
To achieve this aim, the study focussed on 600 of the most vulnerable children in the age group from six months to five years for a year and a half. In April 2009, the field research was completed and the results and conclusions will be presented in 2010.
